Blown Away by ASCE 7-16

On Tuesday, November 21, David Allor and Michael Popeck of GAF will review the new ASCE 7-16 rules and guidelines in an AIA HSW credited program titled “Blown Away by ASCE 7-16” at the Citrus Restaurant in Milford.
In it, we will understand how to go from design wind pressures to roof system selection and installation. Learn how to select rated roof systems and edge metal systems appropriate for design wind pressures and establish roof zone layouts based on prescriptive and performance methods. Code requirements and compliance tools will also be discussed in depth.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Understand how to translate design wind pressures into constructible roof systems by selecting rated roof systems and edge metal systems.
- Recognize how to use and evaluate performance and prescriptive methods to determine roof system characteristics for perimeter and corner zones.
- Apply the requirements contained in the International Building Code and Energy Code for roof wind design specific to building designs.
- Evaluate how design choices made during the wind design process influence the installation of the completed roof system.
Cost for dinner and program is $40.
