Hello Knights of the Housatonic,
The Board had a very informative meeting in February. We were able to have the Region Conference meeting prior to the chapter board meeting. Marty Helly, President of the Region and several members of the Hartford chapter were in attendance. The Region Conference is well beyond the planning stages. Several sponsors have already committed to the May 30 through June 1 event in Hartford. The Region website has the information available for sponsorships and for attendee/guest registration. There are early bird dates that would help to ease your financial commitment and also help the Chapters in planning the activities.
Saturday for CSI members will provide opportunities for interaction at scheduled presentations to assist in chapter operations. This is a chance to meet with other chapter members from the Region and share ideas from your chapter. It is a great way to discover what works for them and for you.
The guest registration schedule has a variety to offer. Friday morning starts with a trip to the Connecticut Science Center, lunch and then a visit to the Mark Twain House. Presentations are being arranged at each facility to make the program special for our CSI guests. Saturday morning provides a trip to the New England Air Museum (http://www.neam.org/index.php). This is a great opportunity to see the aircraft industry from balloons to jets and the people who made this form of transportation happen.

The March chapter meeting was a roundtable discussion between product representatives and designers discussing the interaction of both parties needs and requirements. CSI has been the organization that brings together the designer, product representatives and contractors to the same table. As members we all share the thirst for education required in seeing the project come to completion.
Our April meeting is once again a roundtable discussion. The tables will be turned, as the panel of professionals will be the specification writers. This highly successful joint meeting with Hartford had to change its location for this month. The previous year’s attendance had been so good that we require more seating. We will meet at Eli’s on Whitney in Hamden. Watch your email for registration.
The chapter membership has been holding steady in numbers. Sure, as in all organizations, it has become challenging to bring in new members. Invite a guest to join you at a chapter meeting and have them experience the camaraderie of becoming a CSI member.
‘See you at the roundtable’,
Sir Bill Selski, CSI, CDT, RA;
President, CSI Housatonic Chapter
