Hello Housatonians,
As I see it, we are still celebrating our 50th anniversary. It was in July 1969 that our first chapter president, Donald J. Colasono, was elected. We are now moving forward into our 51st year!
We are coming off a successful year which hosted a Region Conference along with the Hartford Chapter. Thanks to the chapter members who made this a profitable event for the Region and Connecticut chapters. We cannot relax. Our focus should be our Housatonic Chapter this year. We should be looking to build our membership. We are the technical writers of the construction industry.
Our board met during the summer. Our vice president and certification chair, George Rosamond, would like to get the word out to professional offices by presenting at ‘lunch and learn’ programs. Ross Spiegel and Roy Olsen have put together our September meeting. This will ‘LEED’ us into our first meeting of the new year. OK, we have heard the term LEED but what does it stand for? Can you say ‘Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design’?
The Walter E. Damuck Award was presented to Christopher Meyers at the June meeting. Chris was recognized for his commitment to chapter and region events. The award was ‘created to honor one of this (Housatonic) chapter’s meritorious members, Walter E. Damuck, acknowledges those whose contributions given to this chapter have been unselfish and immeasurable’.
Do you have your CSI pin? At meetings in previous decades if you did not wear your pin there was a penalty assessed. Are we leaning towards resurrecting that tradition for the upcoming year? Forewarned is Fore-pinned!
Thank you once again to chapter officers and committee chairs for making our 50th anniversary year a success. It is through your efforts that our chapter is continuing to move forward.
See you in Milford,
Bill Selski, CSI, CDT, RA President, CSI Housatonic Chapter
